At the age of 36, after raising two daughters, I decided
it was time to live my dream of becoming a professional writer. With nothing more than a high school diploma, I
knew my first step was to further my education so I enrolled at Drury University in Missouri and began working towards my
bachelor's degree in Creative Writing.
A funny thing happened on the way to that degree -- I
fell in love with learning, research, and history. In my final year of college, I decided to add a
bachelor's in history to my education, and in May 2007, I graduated with honors in both fields.
In 2006, I joined the Dog Writers Association of America,
and through members' guidance and support, I realized that while my passion may be historical research,
many writers either don't have the patience or the time to be digging up bones. I still enjoy writing but not the pavement-pounding
that goes with it. I still aspire to write that New York Times Best Seller, but in the meantime I'll settle to help
others reach their dreams.
